It's been a while, but things have been pretty good. Started school 3 weeks ago, finally declared a major, fun stuff. Woot for Anthropology! I met Robert F. Kennedy Jr. last week. It was really interesting to hear him speak. He gave a lecture on "Our Environmental Destiny," and of course politics came into play.
Last night on BBC America, Eddie Izzard, The Mighty Boosh, and Russell Brand each did 10 minute bits for the Secret Policeman's Ball, and it reminded me of some things I wanted to say. I watched the Mtv VMAs on Sunday, and NO I am not angry at Russell Brand for the things he said. I am very proud of the fact that he can stand up and say what he believes in. He was very brave to say what he did in a country where ethnocentricity is a major working concept, even though the majority of Americans don't even know what that means. People are now saying that he needs to be deported back to the UK for what he said that night about President Bush. I say that if that is what Americans are feeling, that the constitution shouldn't apply to guests in the country, and that no one can have the right to freedom of speech, then this is not a country I am going to be proud of. I have been a fan of Russell Brand since December 2006, and what he said at the VMAs just solidified that. Whether or not you agree with him, he still was willing to put his reputation and fandom on the line for what he believed in. I know this is getting preachy, but I just want to say "Hoo-rah Russell Brand!!!"
Going back to the Secret Policeman's Ball, The Mighty Boosh did a sketch, most of which was on the live dvd so I had seen it before. My dad had never seen anything Boosh related, other than my t-shirt, and he now thinks I am absolutely nuts for thinking they are funny. At least he got to see what I am planning to do for my halloween costume. Yes, I am making the mirrorball suit. I already found the boots I need, and they were cheaper than I had expected. My dad also thinks I'm nuts for wanting to wear that. Oh well, I guess he just doesn't understand my strange sense of humor.

Eels up inside ya, findin' an entrance where they can.
Boring through your mind, through your tummy, through your anus.
Eels!

I finished Breaking Dawn yesterday. I must say, I am so thrilled at how it all ended. Everything that I had wanted to happen in the very beginning of the series happened, and I couldn't be happier. Now I have to go back and read them all again from start to finish. I guess that will give me something to do before the semester starts.

I'm really excited about this semester. I'm taking Biological Anthropology, with a lab, Early Shakespeare, PreCalc/Trig, and Fantastic Archaeology (online), for a total of 12 credit hours. I'm finally a sophomore; it only took two years for me to get there. Taking that first semester off (Fall '06) really slowed me down in the credits, but I'm finally caught up, so it's okay in the end. I bought a new messenger bag for my laptop yesterday on Amazon, it should be here tomorrow. I'm kind of excited about it, even though it's just a bag, because it's really cute. I saw it at Target a few months ago, didn't buy it because it didn't have a tag, changed my mind and went back the next day and it was gone. Somebody bought it on the website, and returned it to the store, so they put it on the shelves (the website said it wasn't available in stores). Because it didn't have a tag they probably would have sold it to me for 20$, but I didn't even ask what the price was. Stupidity on my part, but hey, can't go back in time. So anyway, I'd been searching for it for months, and found it online the other day. At target.com the price was 80$, amazon it was only 50$. Now that I've explained all that, I bought the bag because I will need to carry my laptop with me to school now, because while I am there I can work on my stuff for my online class. I have a feeling that I will probably get too distracted at home sometimes. I'll be going to school 4 days a week, but on Tuesdays and Thursdays I only have one class. Mondays I have three classes, and Wednesdays I have two.

Rambling is done I guess. I don't have much to say, I just felt the need to say something.

...and that's why I don't like cricket.

I'm halfway through reading Breaking Dawn, and I'm impressed, to say the least. The twist and turns it is taking is pretty amazing, and unexpected. Don't worry, this is spoiler free! I was just amazed at how much enjoyment I could get out of a book meant for young teenagers. I know, I know, Harry Potter was meant for kids, but this seems different. I mean, it's a book about vampires and werewolves! I guess I feel this way because I was really into that sort of thing when I was..hmm 14? Although I don't feel juvenile while I'm reading it, which is kind of surprising. On another note, my eye has been twitching all damn day, which is annoying while I am trying to read.

Hopefully this week I will be able to go to the bookstore and buy all my books for the fall semester. I went over my schedule again, and added an online class, which I am uber excited about. So now I'm all pumped up for the semester, which doesn't start until the 25th. I'm hoping to get my books early so that I can get a head start on studying, because I've got some upper level classes this semester.

My turtle is getting increasingly annoying. She is constantly banging against the walls of her tank, and now that she is so big she makes a lot of noise. Although to be fair, I haven't taken her out and played with her in a while. I also need to clean her tank, so when I do that maybe I will get a chance to play with her. The night that my fish-that-I've-had-for-8years died, she was making a ridiculous amount of noise, like she knew he was dying. I had the fish longer than I've had the turtle. He died just last week, and I still have his tank in my room, so occasionally I look in the tank, and then get sad because I remember he's gone. I'd never become attached to a fish before, but I felt I had a special bond with him. Don't think I'm crazy, because an 8year relationship with a fish is kind of a big deal, especially for a tropical fish whose life expectancy is 6 to 8 months. I just haven't really had a chance to express my feelings at the loss of that fish. No he never had a name. Every time I would name a fish it would die, and after two years I became so attached to the fish that I was scared to name him. I also am not sure it was a male, but I seemed to get a male energy off of him.

Trista has some how figured out how to sleep with her eyes open, which is seriously creeping me out. She's in the middle of a REM cycle, and her eyes are wide open! But she is a dog, so she's got that extra flap thing, I forget what it's called right now. I'll probably remember it next week.

Well that's enough off of my chest for now. I'm off to read some more.

So Vince Noir, 'e went to Topshop. And, uh, Howard, 'e took the ruby, and 'e gave it to Bollo. I 'fink that's what 'appened. I don't know, I weren't watchin'. I was havin' a wank.

Tonight the season finale of Doctor Who aired in the states. It was absolutely incredible!!!! It was amazing how Russel T. Davies was able to tie everything together in the end. Even things from a few seasons ago and other shows, such as The Sarah Jane Adventures, and Torchwood, were as vital to the storyline as the main points. There are rumors that the show is supposed to take a break until 2010, and I would be sad if that is true, because I LOVE seeing new episodes of Doctor who every year. I had to explain things to my mom, because she hasn't seen every episode like my dad and I have. My brother has yet to see any of this season yet, because he is waiting for it to be on dvd, so he won't let me give him any spoilers.

I bought a new cd last night, and I am absolutely addicted to it. It's called "The Alternative" by IAMX. If you haven't heard of them and are into any sort of electro or new rave music, you should really give them a go. I've listened to this album at least 4 times today alone, stright through, just listening to it and doing nothing else. I guess this isn't really out of the ordinary for me, the music freak, but still, I barely accomplished anything today. Also the band Robots in Disguise have become addicting to me. I only have a few of their songs, but they are absolutely incredible as well.

Fall semester starts on August 25th. I have to go online and see if I can consolidate any of my classes, because it is too expensive to drive 4 days a week out to the campus. I also have to buy a parking pass, so that I don't have to be dropped off every day like I used to. However, there is also the fact that while I am at school, my parents would only have one car, and that is not useful for them, because they always go off in different places throughout the day. So I guess we will just have to talk about it and see what the most efficient thing would be.

I'm hoping this week to go out to JoAnn's in Brandon, because I want to look for material do make my Halloween costume. I know I still have plenty of time, but it is a difficult costume, and I don't want to rush around at the last minute. I'm making Vince Noir's mirrorball suit, from The Might Boosh. Hopefully my hair will be grown out enough, at least so that it is down to my shoulders, so that I can get the Vince Noir haircut. Having short hair is okay, but I can't tie it up, and living in Florida, I really need to be able to do that when it gets too hot. My brother has also talked about possibly dressing up as Old Gregg, so I'm helping him with what he will need for that costume. It will probably be difficult to find a pink tutu that fits him, heh heh. That I want to see. My brother in a pink tutu. Genius.

Monkey hands...and frozen legs...the ultimate combination. <lj-embed id="1" />

Well, I went through and read my entries in this thing from years ago, and felt really stupid. Did I really think I was that cool? So I went ahead and deleted them, and am giving myself a fresh start.

It's been so long since I've been on here, but I decided to give it a go again. High school is over, has been for 2 years now. Been in college, loved it and hated it. I spend most of my time reading these days, but at least it's quiet. I don't get bothered by much anymore either. Still have a foot phobia though, and my brother still pesters me about it. The fish that I had for 8 years died a few days ago. Max (my turtle) is ridiculously huge. I'm still single, and I don't see a change happening there anytime soon, which isn't so bad. I'm enjoying life as it is right now. I got to see Criss Angel do is final death defying stunt last night. I was actually there! It was flippin' amazing. I have been a fan of his for years, and I finally go to see him do something, which it turns out is going to be his last big something. My dog Trista is currently sniffing my purse because it smells like the beach, (that's where the Criss Angel thing was). My music style has changed significantly over the past few years, and now my brother doesn't turn his nose up at half the stuff I listen to. That's a nice change.

I guess that's a decent update on things for now. I imagine as time progresses, and I get more involved in writing on here, the gaps will be filled in.

I'm Old Gregg.
